Reef Pro 600

As hobbyists, with each new aquarium that we own we learn how to identify and improve small details in the design and incorporate these ideas into our next 'perfect system'.

With the D-D Reef-Pro Aquarium we have taken decades of continuous improvements and incorporated them into our own version of the 'perfect system', affordable and suitable for both beginners or advanced aquarists.

The flexible design provides an easy to use robust system that can be tailored to suit even the most demanding aquarist and includes all of the essential features required for keeping a successful aquarium.

Aquarium

Aquarium Features

  • Crystal clear, braceless aquarium with full polished edges to give an unimpeded view of your own personal reef.
  • Balanced width to height ratio to enhance viewing, aquascaping and ease of coral placement.
  • Unique 'Invisible weir box' design in black glass which almost disappears into the back of the aquarium.
  • Multi-stage weir design provides a high turnover rate in the tank whilst minimising drain down levels in a power loss situation.
  • Special 'Ultra-Flow' weir comb allows 30-50% more water through, so that larger flow rates can be used.
  • Twin overflow pipes offer safe, silent operation.

Constructed from crystal clear, low iron high clarity glass, the aquarium features a braceless design, producing a clean and modern display with easy access for maintainance.

By designing the tank to be wider than it is tall we create a more balanced aspect ratio which greatly enhances the viewing experience, allowing easier and more natural aquascaping and coral placement.

An internal weir box can become an unattractive focal point in any aquarium, dictating aquascaping and interupting flow patterns inside the tank.

With this in mind the 'invisible weir box' of the Reef-Pro models has been carefully designed to minimise intrusion into the aquarium whilst exceeding the functionality found in most aquariums.

The twin pipe overflow system allows almost silent running whilst the use of the D-D UltraFlow weir comb allows the maximum amount of waterflow without raising the water height in the aquarium. More details on UltraFlow are provided further down this page.

Cabinet

Cabinet Features

  • Sleek, extra tall cabinet that offers the perfect viewing height for the aquarium.
  • Modern, heavy duty cabinet construction with high quality finish to compliment the home environment.
  • Extra height internal space for installation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Cabinet supplied pre-assembled as standard.
  • Removable quick release, folding door to offer improved access for maintenance.
  • Lacquer coated, fully adjustable, soft close hinges.
  • Adjustable feet to allow correct levelling of the aquarium on uneven floors.
  • Good ventilation incorporated into the chiller and sump areas.

The PRO-Reef cabinet is designed to be extra tall to perfectly balance the aspect ratio of the aquarium and is built for D-D in the U.K to ensure a consistent high quality.

The top, bottom and front structural uprights of the cabinet are made of 36mm board, making it extremely strong and rigid with excellent load bearing properties, giving the impression of a piece of furniture rather than just a simple tank cabinet. Note that as with any piece of furniture, spilled or standing water must be cleaned up immediately from the surface to prevent damage to the board.

The extra internal height inside the cabinet provides good headroom for use of taller equipment and benefits ease of maintainance. Access is further improved by incorporating removable quick release. double folding doors.

When installing any aquarium it is of the upmost importance to provide a level base, unlevelled cabinets can add stress to the glass and can result in an uneven water level in the aquarium.

The D-D aquarium cabinet design includes heavy duty adjustable feet allowing for full levelling of the cabinet and aquarium.

Sump

Sump Features:

  • Filter sock with silencing plate (Option when ordering).
  • Sump supplied ClariSea ready as standard.
  • Large skimmer / equipment section.
  • Pump chamber.
  • Built in top-up reservoir.

D-D have many decades of experience in designing, building and running large successful aquariums and have combined this knowledge to produce what we believe is the perfect simple sump layout for the space available. The ultra quiet twin pipe weir system is further refined by the first section of the sump, resulting in a silent water return with no splashing or gurgling.

If using the filter sock arrangement (option when ordering), the water then overflows into a twin filter sock section which incorporates a diffused silencer plate to reduce any water noise.

After passing through the prefilter water flows into a large equipment compartment. This chamber can both hold equipment such as skimmers, media reactors, calcium reactors etc. The final section is a return pump compartment which sits beside the integrated water top off reservoir.

ClariSea

As standard the D-D Reef-Pro range is supplied with a ClariSea ready sump and pipework, this allows the ClariSea units to be fitted easily with no adjustments or modifications.

The ClariSea fleece filter is an ultra compact, patented, high efficiency water filtration system, which continuously removes suspended particles such as micro algae, detritus, food, organic waste and gravel dust from the water column to improve water quality and clarity. The ClariSea design has been continuously developed and improved over 4 years, and is suitable for use in both marine and freshwater aquariums, fish-breeding and coral propagation systems.

At the time of order it is possible to specify the optional filter sock option, this can easily be lifted out at a later date and the ClariSea fitted without the need of tools.

Ultra Flow Weir Comb

All D-D Reef-Pro aquariums come fitted with the Ultra Flow Weir Comb to allow maximum water flow through the weir without excessively raising the water level in the aquarium. The Ultraflow Overflow Weir Comb maintains a high flow at all times, allowing the use of larger return pumps with a higher flow rate.

The D-D Ultraflow Overflow Weir Comb is designed with a unique arrangement of vertical and horizontal drain slots that allows around 30% to 50% more water to flow through the slotted sections compared to a standard vertical type weir, which in normal circumstances, can result in a much higher running level causing excess drain down in the event of a power cut or in the worst case scenario the aquarium overflowing. For maintanence the weir comb can easily be removed and cleaned.

Flow Nozzles

All D-D Reef-Pro aquariums come fitted with the Ultra Flow Weir Comb to allow maximum water flow through the weir without excessively raising the water level in the aquarium. The Ultraflow Overflow Weir Comb The D-D Reef-Pro aquariums come complete with a 3D printed flow generator and wide outlet nozzle attachment allowing the flow coming from the sump to be directed and taylored to suit your reef.

Aquarium Builder: Design & Equipment Options

The Aquarium Builder is an exciting online aquarium designer tool to help visualise, design and create your own perfect saltwater or freshwater aquarium system in absolute detail.

This tool takes you through the build process from start to finish, first selecting the specific aquarium range, the tank size and colour finish, before allowing you to add from a huge range of equipment options to create your perfect aquarium. To help visualise what the different cabinet finishes will look like when the aquarium is running, there is even an option to add fish and corals to the marine aquariums or plants and décor to the freshwater and Aquascaper models.

As you progress through the build, a high-definition image of your aquarium will be continuously updated to show any changes or additions so you can see how much space will be taken up or simply how equipment will look in position in exact scale. For each tank, only relevant equipment will be shown which is suitable for that aquarium and compatible with any other equipment choices you have already made. The recommended retail price is displayed for each item, so that cost differences can be compared between available options, and a running total of the build is shown at the top, allowing you to plan the build to suit a budget.

Different choices can be easily selected and de-selected throughout the process, or by simply clicking on some options it will remove the older selections, making it easy to compare different lighting, return pump, wavemaker, protein skimmers etc that are available.

When your build is complete, an itemised list is shown so you can see all the options selected. It is possible to save the build for future reference by entering your e-mail address which will give you a unique login code and ID. Once saved the quote can be shared with your local retailer who will be able to assist with the next steps of making your custom build a reality.
