Deltec PF Calcium Reactors

Hand built in Germany Deltec PF Calcium Reactors are an effective way of increasing the KH and calcium in your aquarium and can be used fluidised with a fine calcium media or, more commonly, non-fluidised with 9-15mm grade media such as ROWAlith W.

Four models are available suitable giving an option for saltwater aquariums between 500 and 3000 litres.

Calcium reactors work by adding Carbon Dioxide (CO2) to a small volume of water in a reaction chamber containing a Calcium Carbonate based media, the addition of CO2 reduces the pH inside the unit slowly dissolving the media and liberating KH and calcium. Depending on the media used it can also release other useful elements such as Magnesium. 

Please note: a suitable CO2 bottle, regulator, solenoid and bubble counter will need to be purchased separately to run the reactor.

The included internal re-circulation pump combined with the internal diffuser plates allow even water flow inside the reactor for maximum efficiency.

Deltec PF Reactors have a large outlet pipe to ensure good flow and allow any excess CO2 to escape from the reactor. The units can be run externally or partly submerged in a sump, the outlet of the reactor however should ideally be positioned so that it is not going uphill allowing water to escape freely.

Simple to use and maintain the PF Reactors feature twist off bayonet lid to allow easy tool free access and unions on the internal circulation pump for easy removal during maintenance.

Running your NFP Reactor

A separate pump, not included, is needed to feed water through the reactor at a slow rate. Although it is possible to supply water to these reactors by taking a feed from a return pump or external filter etc. it is best to use a dedicated peristaltic pump capable of constant running. Depending on the water flow required a D-D P1 STP or Kamoer FX-STP can be used.

Deltec’s Multi-Purpose Reactor Design

Should you need to re-purpose the reactor over time Deltec have made the components of their latest reactor ranges universal to allow for the NFP reactor to be easily converted to a PF Calcium Reactor or FR fluidised reactor using additional components, available separately.
