Many people suddenly are aware that their ball valves start to leak and try to stop this by replacing the flange O rings.

In most cases this does not help as it is the internal O ring that is leaking or the screw that holds the internal ball in place becomes loose.

Below are step by step instrictions on how to dismantle and clean the internal seals.

    VDL Ball Valve complete

Take out main valve body and note different ends

This end has a removable centre - see the 4 keyways.

Remove the blue valve handle and note the male keys.

Use the tap as a key or spanner and turn anti-clockwise.

This allows the end to be removed exposing the inner O ring/ball

The valve here is completely stripped down.

Grease and assemble as the reverse of the above.
