Question:

Should the tap on my RO flow restrictor be open, closed or somewhere in the middle?

Answer:

The tap on the flow restrictor should be 90 degrees to the flow or pipe direction. This appears that it is in the off position but this is where it is needed for normal operation.

When the tap is positioned inline with the flow or pipe direction this will allow water to escape at a quicker rate to waste. This is done to flush the membrane and should be done periodically for 20-30 mins to maintain the performance of the unit.
