T5 choice for marine aquarium

Question:

I would like your advice on which light to use on this marine reef aquarium, attached is a drawing.

Could you please advice me on the model and type you would suggest.Would you also please enclose the price.

At the moment I have 2 4ft T5 Actinics and 4 4ft T5 White Marines 14000k.

I also intending to keep some fish, SPS, LPS, and some soft Corals.In other words a mixed tank.

I live in Guernsey which is part of the Channel Islands.We are part of the UK but the Islands are actually in the Bay of St. Malo

Not an easy question Ivan as there are multiple options

1 – T5

The 6 x 4ft T5 tubes would be OK for what you suggest if they are quality tubes and each fitted with single reflectors.

If this is in a fitting then I assume you would not want to change it.

If they are not in a pendant you may want to consider the 8 tube Matrix

For this I would recommend the 2 x 250W Infiniti with 4 x 54W T5 tubes

Or for more fish and soft/LPS corals you could look at the 2 x 150W

LED

We have just launched a range of professional LED units manufactured in the USA.

These are probably the most advanced available on the market.

I would start with 2 units and increase to 3 if you find that you are growing more and more SPS.

You will also need a controller and a set of 4 ft hanging bars.

The beauty of these is that they are fully dimmable, you can adjust the colours of the 3 LED to what you prefer, have sunrise, moonlight and even thunderstorm programmes and are fully upgradable in the future.Electrical loads per unit are only 75 watts and they have the same PAR output as a 250W halide. Also they will not add heat to the tank in the same way as a halide.

I am going to put some of these on my tank with my matrix units and take off my HQI
