Why should I use a deionising resin after my RO unit?
Normally it is not necessary to use a deionising resin after an RO unit as for most aquarists the water quality is well within the levels required which is why as standard we supply a 3 stage system.
Some people however want to remove all traces of salt from the water and by utilizing a deionising resin this takes water purification one stage further and will allow for total removal of nitrate and phosphate from the water as well as other salts.
The deionising resin traps charged molecules and only allows uncharged molecules to pass through to produce very high quality water.
D-D supply a 1 lt deionising resin cartridge which is now available from any of our retailers (article code DIR001) and can be fitted easily to your existing RO unit.
We offer a 1 lt unit rather than the smaller 250ml versions as the capacity and life of this smaller volume of media can be relatively short.
The deionising cartridge fits onto the unit after the membrane and the cartridge can either be clipped onto the membrane housing or placed inline on the permeate pipe using the fittings supplied.
The cartridges are refillable and replacement resin is available from your local retailer.
