No water through DC-300 chiller ?

Question:

I just receved my DC-300 chiller and I am having a problem getting  it  to draw water from the aquarium. the unit is set under the  aquarium three meters, and I cannot get it to draw water. What is the maxium lift and draw for this unit. Also is the pump start working  as soon as you turn the unit on,or is there a delay.

Answer:

Jon,

The cooler requires a feed pump to deliver water from the system to the cooler and back into the system on a loop.

The cooler does not work like a canister filter and does not have a built in pump to draw water.

You need to buy a suitable feed pump and some flexible pipe to be able to connect the cooler up.  It does state in the instructions which flow rates are required and how to install the cooler.

The feed pump needs to be placed in the water of the aquarium or filter sump to be able to get water to the cooler.

Hope that helps.
