Nitrate reactor ORP control

Question:

Hi

i want to use a orp probe and my aqutronica computer to control my nitrate
reactorand put my deltec peri pump on the aqutronica to control the time the
pump is on what is the best way to do this please iv set the aqutronica at
200 mv and 100 nv to let more water throw if required whats the best way of
doing this please regards and a happy new year

Answer:

Simon,

I have sent you a link with the full instructions for the nitrate filter set
up

You need to set the controller to -150-170mv  That is MINUS figure so be
sure you set it correctly.

You will always have a permanent feed of water going to the reactor 24/7.
The secondary feed is controlled by the redox controller or aquatronica in
your case.  When the redox falls too low ie - 200 say then the second water
feed should start up.  This will slowly introduce more water from the
aquarium into the reactor and this will raise the redox in the reactor.
Once the desired level is reached the second feed supply will switch off
automatically if set correctly.

To do this you will need ideally a peristaltic pump, silicone hose, a
saltwater safe solenoid (some are not saltwater safe and will rust), the
redox probe and of course a controller or separate computer again the
Aquatronica in your case.

You set the controller to just switch on the second feed as and when
required.  This way the redox is held at a consistant level in the reactor.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Leigh
