My mce600 protein skimmer seems to be making quite a noticable humming noise, louder than i would expect. Just how loud are these things meant to be as im concerned that all may not be quite right with it. Mine has an old style auqabee up2000 pump but with a new ceramic shaft and red bushes. It also has the damping feet on the pump but it still seems to be
vibrating an abnormal amount.
Any help would be appretiated.

Hi Jordan
Sorry for the late reply, you mail ended up in my junk as I'm having
trouble with my email at the moment.
If the skimmer has been running for some time a really good clean/inspection
and worn part
replacement maybe required.
I have put an article together to explain how to best clean and inspect the
pump(link below)
http://www.theaquariumsolution.com/maintaining-mc-and-ap-skimmers-aquabee-pump
The plate that pushes down behind the pump may not be pushing the pump
forward enough allowing the
pump to vibrate so also check this.
Also check for any resonance/vibration between the body of the skimmer and
the aquarium.
Let me know how you get on.
Regards Tony
