Hi Raymond
The new style pumps have the impeller shaft incorporated as part of the
skimmer itself , the shaft spins
on ceramic bearings integrated into the rubber bushes fitted at each end of
the pump.
You can identify your pump by following the link below:
http://www.theaquariumsolution.com/old-or-new-style-pumps-%E2%80%93-which-one-have-you-got
The turbo pinwheels supplied for the new style pumps have a full set of pins
around the edge of the needle wheel
to produce extra air, the 300 lph needle wheels from the old design pumps
have half height pins around the edge.
The new style needle wheel one piece impellers will not fit the old style
pumps I'm afraid so this would mean purchasing
a whole new turbo pump. If you have an older MC500 that is working well and
skimming out available wastes the extra
cost of the new turbo pump may not yield much more skimmate so may not be
worth the extra investment.
