Aquarium lighting

Question:

I have currentley have an irregular size pentagon corner tank with a surface area of 0.45m2 and a depth of 700mm.
the tank dimensions are 900 x 900mm with a 300mm return on each side leaving a front panel of around 800mm width.
At the moment it currentley has 2x24w 4x39w t5 and a 1000hd tile mixed blue and white.
I plan to replace the t5's with all led, what would you recommend ?
It is mainly LPS and soft corals but I may want to try SPS in the near future.
Many thanks
Paul

Answer:

Hi Paul

Im afraid the only LED solution we offer at the moment is included as part
of our nano cube range.
Giesemann may be looking to market hybrid LED / T5 systems soon but no date
has been set as
far as im aware.

My personal choice would be to go for a halide/T5 system if you are looking
to go for SPS. Whilst
sps can be grown under high output LED systems i prefer halide lighting for
best growth/colour.

The Giesemann Spectra 1 x 250 watt/ 4 x 24 watt T5 would make a very nice
all in one solution as
the Spectra carries a very large reflector for single ended lamps and
external halide ballasts.
Using the 14.5k coral lamp and four actinic plus T5 you should be able to
achieve a very nice colour
balance plus get great growth from your sps.

A cheaper alternative would be the Infiniti unit.

Hope this helps Tony
